Visit the Llotja de Mar, a building that is unique in Europe with a history dating back more than 700 years, where finance, culture and architecture come together under one roof.

Built in the 14th century as an initiative of the Consulate of the Sea and the medieval governing body, the Council of the Hundred, the Llotja de Mar was the place where the city’s traders would meet.
It soon became Barcelona’s temple to commerce. It retains many of the original Gothic architectural features, along with neoclassical and Catalan art-nouveau, or modernista, elements, which are the result of refurbishments undertaken in recent centuries.

A number of famous figures from the world of art have stepped through the doors of the building and left their mark, including Antoni Gaudí and Pablo Picasso, who studied here when the Llotja housed the art school, the Reial Acadèmia.

Discover this unique building where history, architecture, painting and sculpture come together.

Express your creativity and come and draw at the Llotja de Mar, under the expert guidance of Ricard Robres, an illustrator for major publications and children’s stories and advertising creative.
