Half-day bus trip from Barcelona including a guided tour of the industrial village, the Colònia Güell and the crypt designed by Gaudí, followed by an insight into the world of wine and cava in the wine region of the DO Penedès.
The tour departs from Plaça de Catalunya
in the centre of Barcelona, stopping first at the Colònia Güell and its crypt, which were awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2005.
The industrialist Eusebi Güell adopted the model of industrial villages being built in Catalonia at the time, but he provided the Colònia Güell with schools, amenities for the community and places of worship. He commissioned the best architects from the Catalan art-nouveau movement, modernisme, and entrusted Antoni Gaudí with the building of the church. The building remained unfinished and only the lower section was completed, hence its name: the crypt.
After the guided tour of the Colònia Güell and Gaudí’s crypt
you’ll be able to enjoy lunch with cava and then we’ll depart for the DO Penedès to discover the world of the white and rosé sparkling wines – cavas – with one of the local producers. The winery tour includes a tasting of three award-winning cavas combined with delicious tapas
made with local produce.
