You’ll start off the morning with a tour of the monastery of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra – a Cultural Landmark of National Interest – and enjoy its peaceful surroundings, steeped in history, ancestry and Gothic architecture. After your visit, it will be time to tour the neighbouring estate of Coll de Canyet, which produces the wine Orígens under the Alella Designation of Origin label. You’ll round off your visit with a tasting of some of its wines paired with a light snack.

ADVANTAGES:

In the centre of Badalona, you’ll discover the rich Roman heritage in the basement of the town’s museum, the Museu de Badalona. You’ll see the archaeological remains that were declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest in 1995.

You’ll be able to go on your own tour of the contrasts between the city’s past and present. We’ll give you the options and you choose:
  • On foot: A pleasant walk lasting under two hours that has plenty of surprises in store. You’ll follow the signposted route from the Pompeu Fabra metro station or Badalona railway station as far as the monastery of Sant Jeroni, continue as far as the Coll de Canyet estate, take a bus for lunch at Ca l’Arqué and round off your tour at the museum.
  • By public transport: You’ll take the bus at the Pompeu Fabra stop and get off at the Església de Canyet stop. From here, you’ll walk up to the monastery of Sant Jeroni, and continue as far as the Coll de Canyet estate, take a bus for lunch at Ca l’Arqué and round off your tour at the museum.
  • With your own vehicle: If you want to go on your own bespoke route and explore the paths around the monastery… You can do them all by car.
Visiting times:
  • 10am – Guided tour of the monastery of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra (15th-16th centuries): church, monks’ quarters and cloisters.
  • 12.30pm – Guided tour of the vineyards at the Coll de Canyet estate that produces the Orígens wine, wine tasting paired with a light snack.
  • 2.30pm – Lunch at the restaurant Ca l’Arqué, Mediterranean menu with typical dishes from Badalona.
  • 6pm - Audioguide tour of the archaeological remains of Baetulo under the Museu de Badalona: Roman baths, Decumanus and main streets, the forum commercial district, dwellings and permanent exhibition.
