Saint Ignatius of Loyola
is the personality who has done the most to bring the city of Manresa to worldwide attention. It was here that he discovered his religious vocation and found the inspiration to write his Spiritual Exercises when he spent a year in the city in 1522.
The Ignatius Trail visits a series of places steeped in anecdotes, legends and symbolism in memory of the founder of the Company of Jesus
: the former school, the Col·legi de Sant Ignasi, the chapel, the Capella del Rapte, the well, known as the Pou de la Gallina, and the impressive cave of Saint Ignatius, which was built between the 17th and 18th centuries.
