Tablao Flamenco Cordobés presents a tribute to Carmen Amaya, one of the most important figures of flamenco dance
Iconoclastic, self-taught, groundbreaking, temperamental… that was Carmen Amaya
: the artist who made flamenco great from the shacks of the shanty town Somorrostro which was built on the beaches of Barcelona in the early 20th century.
She was the dancer who broke all the moulds with her frenzied rhythms and the strength of her performances and now takes centre stage again at the Grand Flamenco Festival: a series of concerts to be held at the Palau de la Música Catalana, a jewel of Catalan art nouveau, or modernisme, which has been awarded World Heritage Status by Unesco.
The key performers in this tribute to the Catalan flamenco genius include some of the leading figures from the contemporary flamenco scene: Karime Amaya (Carmen Amaya's great-niece), Belén López, José Maya and many more top artists. The show is divided into three parts: “Distant roots”, “Carmen and her time” and “Flamenco links with Andalusia”. What does your booking include?
