Architecture as a destination

Favourite

Two routes designed with urbanites and lovers of architecture and design in mind which will take you to Barcelona’s key architectural sites. This is the mission of the architectural practice, Architour.

ADVANTAGES:

The "New Barcelona" contrasts radical contemporary architecture with the vibrant factory heritage of the area once known as the “Catalan Manchester”: the paradigm of Barcelona’s industrial textile revolution. This trip through 22@, the district of knowledge, innovation and new technologies, will take you as far as the Forum, the symbolic final stretch of the iconic Avinguda Diagonal, which ends at the sea. Along the way, you’ll see such well-known buildings as the Agbar Tower, and works by some of the world’s leading architects, including Norman Foster, Richard Rogers, Toyo Ito, Herzog & de Meuron, Miralles & Tagliabue and many more. You’ll also visit Can Framis and Ca l’Aranyó, the Parc de Diagonal Mar and Parc Central de Poblenou.

The "Sarrià and Pedralbes" route covers a part of the city with mountain views full of semi-detached houses and mansions, prestigious schools and healthcare facilities, and an introspective private life which reveals another Barcelona of gardens and textures. You’ll visit Pedralbes Monastery, one of the jewels of Catalan Gothic architecture, the Güell Estate designed by Gaudí, and a vast ensemble of contemporary architecture, which will allow you to imagine the Barcelona that was a garden and city at the same time.
