We invite you to explore seven routes combining travel on the metro, on foot and other means of public transport, so you can discover the city from an insider's point of view, as well as its history, neighbourhoods, urban development…at your own pace!
Barcelona is so much more than its main tourist attractions; it is a vibrant city where every neighbourhood has its own distinctive charm which is worth exploring as you walk. The Barcelona Metro Walks guide will help you put together your own bespoke tour.
All the suggested routes in the guide begin in the city centre, at the Plaça Catalunya or Plaça Urquinaona metro stations. They are easy under foot and can be used in conjunction with a travel pass so you can enjoy unlimited travel during the time you want to spend exploring day-to-day life in Barcelona.
The Park Güell, the Parc del Coll and the Vall de Hebrón will show you the greenest side of Barcelona, together with the districts of Guinardó and Horta. You’ll walk along the stateliest of routes in Pedralbes, Sarrià and Sant Gervasi. You’ll be taken back in time on the Gràcia-Tibidabo route. You’ll find out about the city’s industrial transformation in Sant Andreu, Sant Martí and Clot; and you’ll discover the sites of many historic battles in the Ribera, the Born, the Barceloneta and Olympic Village. To end with, you’ll be able to see the latest innovations and progress at Glòries, Poblenou and the Forum.
