The Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona is one of the oldest clubs in the Spanish Football League and the fourth most successful Spanish team at top competition level. FC Espanyol has won the King’s Cup four times and played in two UEFA Cup finals; the last one in Glasgow in 2007.
The current squad includes international players of the calibre of Tamudo, De la Peña, Luis García, Nakamura, Nico Pareja and Kameni. And its past line-ups have featured some of the most important players in the history of football, such as Di Stefano, Kubala and Zamora.
From this season onwards, RCD Espanyol will be playing at its new purpose-built stadium, the Estadi RCD Espanyol, located between the municipal areas of Cornellà de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat, 10 minutes from the centre of Barcelona and 10 minutes away from Barcelona Airport. This is one of the most modern stadiums in Europe, and has been classified as a four-star venue by UEFA. It can hold up to 40,500 spectators and has been built according to energy-efficiency criteria – it has 0.5 MW solar panels on its roof
– and accessibility for the disabled.
