Museu i Centre d'Estudis de l'Esport Doctor Melcior Colet

In Barcelona's Eixample district, on the Avinguda Diagonal, a detached modernista-style house stands out among the other buildings. Designed by Puig i Cadafalch in 1911, it is the home of the Museu i Centre d’Estudis de l’Esport.

Dr. Colet had his medical practice here and in 1982 donated the property to the Catalan government to set up a museum and research centre dedicated to the world of sport.

The collection consists of a wide variety of exhibits and photographs on a sport-related theme, particularly objects associated with Catalan sporting achievements, such Ricardo Zamora’s trophies, football medals from the Catalan Championships of 1919 and 1920, and the football signed by the team from the 1942 Spanish Cup Final and the rules and paintings of Spanish Gymnastics dating from 1862 or rules and paintings of "Gimnasio Español" from 1862 There are other interesting exhibits related to the Olympic movement, including torches and medals, as well as mascots and objects belonging to Catalan Olympic sportsmen and women.
